Yellow Wedding Details

In (early) celebration of the Royal Wedding, here are some photos of a really sweet wedding I came across.

I am so charmed by the happy yellow details. Juxtaposed against the blue sky, doesn't everything look so vibrant and joyful? And, oh goodness, that dress! I think I'm also secretly in love with the fact that the bride and groom are Broadway performers.

Happy Royal Wedding Eve!

Belle Isle Conservatory

My parents love plants and flowers. Actually, any picture of flowers, plants, or general flora I've used is likely taken by them. This past weekend, Saturday was lovely and warm so my parents and I ventured to Belle Isle Park to see the Conservatory. My parents especially love the orchids. Breezy and leisurely, our day was spent strolling through the grounds and even the grocery shopping we did afterwards was equally enjoyable. I hope this is a sign that Spring is on its merry way.

Work Desk Scenes

Leisurely morning at work: a modified mocha with a shot of strong coffee, half a packet of hot chocolate powder, topped off with hot water, apricot jam sandwich cookie left over from yesterday afternoon's celebration (yes, the 1.5 billionaire was there. And so was I).

Work yet to do: departmental propaganda, institutional propaganda, filled calendar, list of materials for upcoming experiments, scientific literature to peruse, today's to-do list.

Happy long weekend to those who are not at work today.

Back to the Grind

Not long ago, these were my surroundings.

I'm sunkissed and golden (thank you, SPF100), but now I'm back to this:

Le sigh. But at least it will soon be time for the magnolia trees to blossom - one of my favorite moments of the year.

Sometimes

This past weekend has left me humbled and awestruck at the power of a casual weekend away, the generosity of others, and the true and endless depth of friendship. I actually sent this in an email, but I want everyone to know: since that weekend, I've reacquainted myself with convictions that there is more out there for me than the monotony of my current life, that my friends are fucking hilarious, gorgeous, and just such inspiring women, and that hopefully one day soon, I'll be able to be as cool as the rest of them.

Life is sometimes just so filled with joy, no?
