Acceptance to medical school: one of the largest leaps of faith that I've ever attempted. Thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way; I am forever indebted to you. It was your faith in me, encouragement, and love, that have brought me so, so far. And it's the stuff that will lead me to become everything that I've ever hoped for.

Elle Fanning in Marie Claire
Since when was being 13 so elegant? I saw these pictures of Elle Fanning in Marie Claire and aren't they just the right mix of girly and gawky? When I was 13, I was certainly a little more than just a bit awkward with my huge round glasses, bleached khaki pants, and Mickey Mouse sweatshirts. She, however, is simply charming.

In Solidarity
But although my ankles hurt and the backs of my legs ached, it felt very good to be moving, and to be free, and to feel the night air on my face and the grass on my legs, wet from the dew. I know my sister was happy too. She was whistling under her breath. Once when we stopped to rest, she dug her toes into the earth at the edge of a field and smiled. When I saw her smile, I felt strong enough to carry on.

Congratulations to my sister for earning her first paycheck as a working woman. It's been a rough transition for all of us. For her, most of all.

Peony Season
The various stages of peony blossoms are what you'll see when you come over; though sadly, these fucshia ones have mostly wilted. However, the white ones are still in full bloom while the soft pink ones are only beginning to bud. We actually transplanted all of our tree peony plants from Massachusetts and of the flowers that grow in the yard, these are my parents' favorite.
Happy Monday!

Gorgeous
"Capacity for love is as good a yardstick as any to measure how alive a thing is. I believe love is a precious gift of evolution that draws from the most advanced parts of the brain."
Humbling and moving thoughts of a medical student (but now MD) on humanity, science, and what it means to love: Elephant in the Room.
