Facebook Before Time

Have you all seen these facebook post parodies by now? They are pretty clever and have been cracking me up ever since my sister first shared them with me a few months ago. Perhaps this is all old news to you, my hip and Internet-savvy friends, but just in case you haven't, this one here is my favorite. Here's another link if you can't see the first one: if Facebook existed years ago.

A Birthday Present

Dear Blog,

I know it appears as though I have neglected the one year anniversary of your creation. I do apologize, but I must explain that I actually did celebrate your birthday with a new phone. And not just any phone. I got the iPhone 4. I am currently more than just a little obsessed; I have been sacrificing hours of precious sleep for this new little thing and all of its features and applications. If you had one, I know you'd understand. Forgive me for my new obsession and please know that I'd never purposely ignore you. I'll be around more and more once the novelty of iPhone wears off. I promise.

For now, because you know how I love them, I'll leave you with this Superbowl commercial that probably everyone has seen and shared by now. It encapsulates so much the spirit of what everyone hopes the Motor City can be. Also, how sexy is Eminem? Seriously, if you do not agree, I'd argue that you do not have a pulse.

Perspective

After I sent my sister an angry text about how the blueberry muffin I had been saving for myself was eaten by our clueless father, she, in true fashion, replies:

"Dun be sad... You'll be skinnier for it. And that will be better in the end. :-)"

Quotability

"...But, in the long run, in the great battle of life, no brilliancy of intellect, no perfection of bodily development, will count when weighed in the balance against that assemblage of virtues, active and passive, of moral qualities, which we group together under the name of character; and if between any two contestants, even in college sport or in college work, the difference in character on the right side is as great as the difference of intellect or strength the other way, it is the character side that will win."
Theodore Roosevelt

Happy Birthday to Jenny, one who overflows with intellect, strength, and character.

Golden Globes Top 5

So many to choose from. Here are my top 5 dresses (and their actresses) from last night: classic, understated (okay, maybe not January's), and feminine. Runner-ups: Mandy Moore, Piper Perabo, and Mila Kunis. In other news, I almost died after the 25 crunches I did while I was watching the actual award show...

Also, Happy MLK Day!

Kate and Andy at Home

I don't have much knowledge or appreciation for interior design, but Andy and Kate Spade's apartment featured by the art, illustration, and design powerhouse, The Selby, makes me wish I had an eye for it. Not surprisingly, Andy and Kate Spade (an extra 25% off all sales! You're welcome.) look so comfortable and effortless amid all of their lavish home styling. I love that they look like they actually use and live in their apartment. Certainly, the abundance of framed artwork also doesn't hurt...

In 2011...

I resolve to...
chase after and achieve my dreams instead of just fantasizing about them
stretch every night
be fearlessly positive towards others and myself
floss at least 3 times a week
take on a creative endeavor once a week like cooking, sewing, writing
not be afraid to ask for help or to say no
drink more water
live confidently and joyfully

Though this is about a week late, I've actually been in trial mode for most of my resolutions during December. I can already touch my toes! I think 8 resolutions won't completely overwhelm me; plus 8 is an auspicious number.

I hope this year finds you determined, renewed, and inspired. Here's to a fulfilling 2011!
